AWRA LONDON is a British brand founded in 2012 with a strong focus on ethics, sustainability, quality, and style.
Our name AWRA is an Arabic term referring to the areas of the body that are required to be covered in islamic practice. We only ever stock large sized hijabs and design clothing in accordance (clothing that easily covers the awrah).
All our hijabs are exclusively designed in London by our CEO, Nurjan.
Nurjan is an Artist, best known for her Swarvoski artworks that have been auctioned in both Sotheby’s, Doha and Bonhams, London.
Nurjan has exhibited her art internationally and has been commissioned by Royalty and famous celebrities alike.
AWRA was founded in 2012 by Nurjan, as she felt there was a lack of options within the modest fashion industry for Muslim women seeking large sized hijabs that provided full coverage. Nurjan wanted to change this.
Since launching in 2013, AWRA is now one of the UK’s most leading online hijab stores with a rapidly growing international customer base.
AWRA now has stockists in Moscow, Russia and Almaty, Kazakhstan where our exclusive designs are thriving.
AWRA has been featured in ELLE UK, Oct 2020 and March 2021 editions alongside The Independent, July 2021.
AWRA works ethically with manufacturers from start to finish, everyone is treated and paid fairly. AWRA believes in ethical production and never compromises their values as a brand over making a quick profit. AWRA is proudly not a fast-fashion company.
AWRA sponsor orphans on a monthly basis. All customers contribute to this when they purchase our designs whether knowingly or unknowingly, everyone receives a share in the Sadaqah Jariyah (perpetual charity).
It's our way of giving back ❤
